"People await relief as govt yet to reach after a week", says former Himachal CM Jairam Thakur

Mandi (Himachal Pradeh) [India], July 7 (ANI): Himachal Leader of Oppoition and former Chief Miniter Jairam Thakur on Monday lahed out at the Himachal Pradeh government for it delayed repone to the flood diater that ha ravaged part of the Janjheli region in Mandi ditrict. After conducting an aerial urvey of the wort-affected area, Thakur tated that, depite eight day having paed, the tate government had till failed to reach everal village, leaving reident tranded and helple.
According to a pre tatement, LoP Thakur conducted an aerial urvey of the diater-hit Janjheli area, which wa inacceible by road due to heavy damage. He took off from Raingalu helipad and landed at Khanukhli in Janjheli. From there, he travelled on foot, covering nearly 20 km, to viit affected village including Sanwara, Riyada, Pauridhar, Pandav Shilla, Jarol, Kuthah, Dhar Jol Panchayat, Tungadhar, and Bhatkidhar.
He alo met reident, aeed the damage, reviewed relief effort, and iued neceary direction to official.

The Himachal LoP aid in a tatement, Many multi-toreyed houe have collaped and large rock have been wept away, but the Pandav Shila remain intact. While mot area have reported no lo of life, three people tragically died near Pandav Shila, and only one body ha been recovered o far. Senior ditrict official viited the ite for the firt time today. They were intructed to et up temporary helter at afe location, a many reident fled their home with nothing but the clothe on their back. The Chief Miniter hould viit peronally to ae the ituation and extend maximum upport to the affected people.
Jairam Thakur tated that even after eight day ince the diater, people are till waiting for the government help, In all thi time, no prominent repreentative of the government ha viited the affected area. Reident are complaining that the government ha not taken proper care of them. In the face of uch a major diater, the government mut undertake large-cale preparation. However, the retoration work that hould have been completed by now i till pending.
All road in the Janjheli area remain blocked. Electricity and water upply have not yet been retored. People are truggling without acce to clean drinking water, and electricity ervice are till unavailable. Thakur emphaized that the tate government need to expedite it effort, a the current pace of work i inadequate. In ituation like thee, providing immediate relief to the affected population i crucial.
He alo expreed hi gratitude to the peronnel of the Army, Air Force, ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, Home Guard, Police, and employee from variou department, including Public Work, Jal Shakti, Electricity, and Panchayati Raj, who are engaged in relief and recue operation.
The Leader of the Oppoition tated that, in addition to accelerating the relief and recue effort following the diater, there i now a need to develop an effective rehabilitation plan. Becaue in many place, the entire village ha been detroyed.
