Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], July 8 (ANI): Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia, who i currently in 14-day judicial cutody, ha been granted three week by the Punjab and Haryana High Court to amend hi petition challenging hi arret.
During the hearing of hi bail application on Tueday, Majithia counel requeted the court for additional time to revie the petition. The High Court accepted the plea and granted three week for the amendment. The cae will now be heard on July 29.
Majithia wa recently arreted in a cae related to diproportionate aet.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau took the former Punjab miniter into cutody on June 25, in a cae under the Prevention of Corruption Act, after conducting earche at hi houe in Amritar. He wa brought to Mohali the next day, and the court ent him to even-day cutody under the Vigilance Bureau. The remand wa then extended by four day.
Earlier on Sunday, Majithia wa ent to judicial cutody till July 19 by the Mohali court in an alleged money laundering cae linked to drug.
Majithia wa brought to court and preented before the duty magitrate amidt heavy police deployment. Special Public Proecutor Ferry Sofat aid, The tate applied for judicial remand, and the Court ha now ent Bikram Singh Majithia to judicial remand up to 19 July. He will be kept in the New Nabha Jail. The next date of hearing i July 19.
A July 8 wa reported a the date for the hearing of the bail plea, the proecutor tated that the bail application ubmitted on Thurday contained certain error, following which the court directed that the application be filed again.
Meanwhile, SAD leader Daljit S Cheema criticied ecurity meaure implemented by the Punjab government following Majithia arret and compared it to the Emergency.
