Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 26 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday praised the launch of the NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana 2025, a new legal aid initiative for defence personnel.
On the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Abdullah honoured the sacrifices of soldiers and said the scheme will help serving and retired soldiers deal with legal issues, especially since they often face challenges due to tough postings and distance from home.
Omar Abdullah said, On the occasion of Vijay Diwas today, I would like to begin by remembering the services and sacrifices of our defence personnel... Our soldiers serve with dedication in challenging terrains.
However, when they face legal challenges, whether related to service disputes, pension matters, or civilian complaints, they often encounter difficulties due to geographical distances, the dynamic nature of their deployments, and the specific constraints of military life... I appreciate the Jammu and Kashmir State Legal Services Authority for taking the initiative to amend the legal aid rules to include serving and retired defence personnel, Abdullah said.
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), in collaboration with the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and the Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority, on Saturday launched the Veer Parivaar Sahayata Yojana 2025 at the North Zone Regional Conference on Reaffirming the Constitutional Vision of Justice for Defence Personnel and Tribals held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, according to a statement.
Every year on July 26, India commemorates Kargil Vijay Diwas, a day etched in the nation heart with pride and solemn remembrance. It marks the day in 1999 when India successfully concluded Operation Vijay, reclaiming the strategic heights from Pakistani intruders.
The Kargil War is a saga of strong political, military and diplomatic actions. This War will always be remembered for its strategic and tactical surprises, as well as the self-imposed national strategy of restraint in keeping the war limited to the Kargil-Siachen sectors and the swiftly executed tri-services military strategy.
