Agartala (Tripura) [India] July 8 (ANI): In a joint operation on late Monday night, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended three alleged drug peddler at Agartala Railway Station and eized 3.24 kg dry cannabi concealed in a large carry bag (pith bag).
The contraband wa reportedly being tranported to Chennai. Acting on a tip-off, the ecurity peronnel intercepted the upect during routine urveillance at the tation. Upon inpection, they dicovered the tightly packed cannabi hidden in a ingle packet within the bag.
During preliminary interrogation, the trio admitted that they intended to travel to Chennai, where the eized cannabi could fetch a treet value of approximately R 1 lakh.
The three accued have been identified a Kabir Hoain (25), Jagir Miah (24), Manik Miah (25). A cae ha been regitered under the relevant ection of the Narcotic Drug and Pychotropic Subtance (NDPS) Act at the Agartala GRP police tation.
Official upect a wider muggling network may be at play, and further arret are likely a the invetigation unfold. All three will be produced before the court on Tueday.
Earlier, in a joint operation on July 2, the Agartala GRP, in coordination with the RPF, apprehended two upected drug peddler from Agartala Railway Station and eized over 6 kg of dry cannabi.
Acting on a tip-off, the police detained the duo and recovered a total of 6 kg 265 gram of dry cannabi (ganja) packed in ix eparate packet, all concealed inide a pit-type carry bag.
According to the accued tatement, the eized ganja could fetch approximately R 1.10 lakh in the Aam market.
The two individual arreted have been identified a Rafiqulla Khan (29), a reident of Raghunathpur, Munhi Bari and Faizal Ahmed (18), both reident of Sepahijala ditrict, Tripura.(ANI)
