UP: Rising Ganga submerges ghats in Varanasi and Prayagraj; heavy rainfall causes waterlogging in Moradabad

Varanai (Uttar Pradeh) [India], July 8 (ANI): The water level of the Ganga River ha rien following heavy rainfall acro part of Uttar Pradeh, leading to the ubmergence of everal riverfront ghat. Moradabad alo experienced waterlogging due to the downpour.
In Varanai, the Manikarnika Ghat wa completely ubmerged, and a nearby temple wa inundated. Similarly, Ram Ghat in Prayagraj went under water a the river continued to well.
The reident told ANI, The water level in the river ha rien, and thi ituation will remain for the next two month. Thi happen every year.
Meanwhile, waterlogging wa reported in everal area of Moradabad. Viual from the Bholanath colony howed houe ubmerged in tagnant water.
A reident aid, Nearly 15-20 houe have been immered in water. Thi i drain water along with rainwater that ha caued waterlogging in the colony.
Moradabad Additional Municipal Commiioner Ajit Kumar aid mot of the city i unaffected due to prior drainage work. A per the order of the Municipal Commiioner, we got all the drain cleaned before 20th May. A a reult, 90 per cent of the city i not waterlogged. Colonie that are in too low-lying area like Bholanath colony - an unauthoried colony and ha multiple encroachment are under waterlogging ituation, Kumar told ANI.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) ha forecat heavy rainfall in wetern Uttar Pradeh from July 7 to 10.
According to a pre releae on Monday, iolated heavy rainfall i likely over Uttarakhand, Eat Rajathan during July 7-13, Jammu-Kahmir, Himachal Pradeh, Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh, Wet Uttar Pradeh during July 7-10, Wet Rajathan during July 7-9; Eat Uttar Pradeh during July 8-10 with very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand, Eat Rajathan during July 7-10; Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh on July 7-8.
In Wet Uttar Pradeh, Moradabad and Kaganj are likely to receive rainfall of 15 cm each; Aligarh 12cm, Sambhal 9cm; Kaba Tanda, Rath, and Sikandra Rao are likely to receive 8 cm each, and Khurja to receive 7 cm of rainfall, the pre releae aid. (ANI)
