Mumbai (Maharahtra) [India], July 8 (ANI): Amid report of Maharahtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) being denied permiion to hold a protet at Mira Road, Maharahtra Chief Miniter Devendra Fadnavi aid that the adminitration aked them to take an alternate route, to which they did not agree.
Speaking to reporter outide the Aembly, Devendra Fadnavi aid, It would be wrong to ay that we did not permit the protet at Mira Road. I have poken to the commiioner, who told me that the Police did not refue permiion for the protet.
He aid that the MNS worker aked permiion to protet on a route where it wa not poible to approve.
They had aked for permiion for a meeting. We were giving them that permiion, but they wanted to hold a protet march on a route where it wa not poible to do o. We aked them to take an alternate route, but they did not agree to it. It would be wrong to ay that they were not given permiion, the CM aid.
MNS worker were et to hold a protet at Mira Road on Tueday, while police denied them permiion for a certain route. The MNS protet came againt the backdrop of the backlah faced by the party amid vandalim and violence over the Marathi-Hindi row.
Additional CP Dutta Shinde aid, There wa a reaon not to permit the protet due to an incident which occurred here earlier. The police are fully alert and taking lawful action to maintain law and order here. The ituation i peaceful. We are telling people not to gather here. He (Avinah Jadhav ) i under preventive detention.
Mo Home Yogeh Ramda Kadam aid, There i no politic in thi. The location where they have requeted permiion may create a few iue. We have told them to change the location, and then permiion will be granted. But they are not willing to change the place.
The row began when, a per a viral video, a group of men allegedly aociated with a regional party beat up a hop owner for not peaking in Marathi. The incident occurred in the Mira-Bhayandar area near Mumbai.
In another incident, five worker of Maharahtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) were arreted in connection with the vandalim at entrepreneur Suhil Kedia office in Worli, police aid on Saturday. A cae ha been regitered againt them under Section 223, 189(2), 189(3), 190, 191(2), 191(3), and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. (ANI)
