Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] July 11 (ANI): Gujarat has made significant strides in combating tuberculosis (TB), achieving a 34 decline in new cases and a 37 reduction in mortality rates compared to 2015. This remarkable progress has earned the state the top spot in the Most Improved State category.
Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel on Friday, held a meeting at Raj Bhavan with senior officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department and thoroughly reviewed the efforts being made under the TB-free India campaign in Gujarat.
According to the official release, Governor Devvrat urged the officials to treat the effort to make Gujarat TB-free as a mass movement. He advised them not to show any laxity in TB control efforts and to work with seriousness toward achieving the target, along with spreading greater awareness about TB among the public.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel instructed the officials to work in a planned manner for TB elimination. He also suggested that a system should be established to ensure that nutrition kits reach every TB patient.

Following the resolve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India aims to be TB-free by 2025. Accordingly, the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of Gujarat is working with utmost seriousness. Compared to other states, Gujarat is witnessing a continuous decline in the number of new TB patients, the official release stated.
