New Delhi [India], July 29 (ANI): BJP MP Jagdambika Pal on Tuesday criticised the Congress party and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for allegedly disrupting parliamentary proceedings over the discussion on Operation Sindoor.

Speaking to ANI, Pal accused the Opposition of stalling the functioning of the House for an entire week.

Regarding Operation Sindoor, the Opposition, the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, did not allow the House to function for an entire week, they disrupted the House... Yesterday, the discussion began, the discussion was so important... but even during that discussion, the Congress party entered the Well of the House..., Pal stated.

He further pointed out that Rahul Gandhi, who was present at the start of the discussion when Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi spoke, was absent for the remainder of the session.

If Congress thinks that the discussion on Operation Sindoor is serious, then Rahul Gandhi should have been present. He was there when the discussion started, when Rajnath Singh and Gaurav Gogoi spoke, but after that, he did not come to the House at all, the discussion continued until 1 am. This clearly shows that Rahul Gandhi and his party only want to create disruptions in the discussion..., Pal added.

On Tuesday, following the adjournment of the House at 11 AM, Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, stated that he would only speak in the lower house of Parliament, though he was not in attendance later.

If I speak, it will be inside (the house). I am aware of that (adjournment of Lok Sabha), that why I am standing here (outside), Gandhi said while talking to reporters.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Manickam Tagore accused the Government of dodging serious discussion in the Lok Sabha on critical issues, including the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the government diplomatic handling of the United States under former President Donald Trump.

In his speech, Rajnath Singh took a swipe at the Opposition during discussion on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha, stating that focus must not remain on small issues when aiming to achieve a higher feat, since it can divert attention from national security. When the aim is to go higher, we should not pay attention to small issues because focusing on issues that remain comparatively small can divert attention from national security, Singh said.

He said that questions being asked by the opposition do not reflect the national sentiments correctly.

It is the job of the ruling side to work while keeping in mind the interests of the people, and the opposition job is to question the government on issues concerning the public...There have been instances where the opposition has inquired about the number of our planes that fell. I dont think this question by the opposition correctly represents our national sentiment. They never asked us a single time how many planes of the enemy were destroyed by our armed forces, Singh added.

Gogoi spoke immediately after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who initiated the debate.

It has been 100 days since the Pahalgam attack took place, but this Govt has not been able to catch those five terrorists... Today, you have drones, Pegasus, satellites, CRPF, BSF, CISF and the Defence Minister went there a few days ago, but still you are not able to catch them... It took almost one hour for an Ambulance to reach Baisaran, where the attack took place. The army came on foot. I cannot forget those visuals when a mother and her daughter saw an Indian soldier; they started crying. They thought the terrorist wearing the uniform of a soldier who killed people in Baisaran was waiting for them. That soldier had to say that he was an Indian, and you were safe... This is the kind of terror the people had there, Gogoi said.

Operation Sindoor was carried out in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people on April 22 this year. India targeted nine terror hubs across Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir and Pakistan and neutralised over 100 terrorists. After the May 7 operations, India and Pakistan reached a cessation of hostilities understanding on May 10. (ANI)
