Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], October 6 (ANI): The Rajasthan government took swift and strict action on Monday following the tragic fire incident at the Trauma Centre of Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Hospital, removing the hospital and trauma centre superintendents, suspending the executive engineer, and filing an FIR against the agency responsible for fire safety, according to the release.
According to the release, the Rajasthan government took immediate action, removing Dr. Sushil Bhati, the Superintendent of SMS Hospital, and Dr. Anurag Dhakad, the Superintendent of the Trauma Centre, from their respective posts.
The Executive Engineer of the hospital, Mukesh Singhal, has been suspended with immediate effect. Additionally, an FIR has been lodged against SK Electric Company, the agency responsible for the hospital fire safety, and its contract has been cancelled.
The release stated that Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma visited the hospital in the early hours at 3 a.m. to assess the situation and directed strict action against those responsible. Following his instructions, the government appointed Dr. Mrinal Joshi as Superintendent of SMS Hospital and Dr. BL Yadav as Trauma Centre Superintendent.
Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, who also visited the site, reviewed the situation following the fire. He stated that the accident was extremely tragic. He expressed condolences to the six deceased and prayed to God to give the families the strength to bear this loss.
The Health Minister visited the site to assess the situation and directed the members of the high-level committee formed to investigate the matter to conduct a thorough investigation into all aspects and submit a report promptly.
According to the release, Khinvsar directed the hospital administration to repair the damaged ICU as soon as possible and to ensure alternative arrangements for patients in the meantime.
Speaking to the media, the Health Minister stated that the state government has constituted a six-member committee headed by the Medical Education Commissioner to conduct a thorough investigation into the entire matter. This committee will thoroughly investigate all aspects of the incident.
The committee investigation report will ensure that strict action is taken against anyone found guilty. He stated that appropriate compensation will be provided to the deceased dependents soon.
Khinvsar stated that the Medical Education Department had directed the CISF in June to prepare a detailed report on improving fire safety and other security measures at Sawai Mansingh Hospital and its affiliated hospitals. This report will also be received soon. In accordance with this report, security arrangements will be strengthened in Sawai Mansingh Hospital and its affiliated hospitals in the first phase. Following this, security arrangements will be strengthened in hospitals across the state in accordance with the CISF report.
Medical Education Secretary Ambrish Kumar, Medical Education Commissioner Iqbal Khan, Principal of Sawai Mansingh Medical College Deepak Maheshwari and other officials were present during the function. (ANI)
