Thane (Maharahtra) [India], July 8 (ANI): Mumbai Police on Tueday detained everal Maharahtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) worker who were proteting againt trader for allegedly not peaking Marathi.
The protet wa part of a larger controvery urrounding the ue of language in the city. MNS worker had gathered in the Mira-Bhayandar area to protet againt trader who they claimed were not peaking Marathi.
The police had earlier denied permiion for the rally, citing intelligence input and potential law and order iue. Depite thi, the MNS worker went ahead with their protet, leading to their detention by the police.
Mira-Bhayander, Vaai-Virar Police Commiioner Madhukar Pandey tated that the police had detained ome people and appealed to the city reident to cooperate with the police. The police had uggeted an alternative route for the rally, which the MNS worker had refued to accept.
Baed on the High Court intruction, we tated that you can take permiion to hold rally, but change the route. We alo had ome intelligence input, baed on which we made thi deciion. We have detained ome people, and I appeal to the city reident to cooperate with the police, Pandey told ANI.
The controvery began when ome trader in Mumbai were allegedly attacked by MNS worker for not peaking Marathi. The MNS had been demanding that trader and hopkeeper in the city peak Marathi, leading to tenion between the two group. The police have been working to maintain law and order in the city and prevent any further ecalation of the ituation.
The MNS ha been advocating for the ue of Marathi in public place and ha been critical of thoe who do not peak the language. The party chief, Raj Thackeray, ha been vocal about the need for people to learn and peak Marathi, epecially in Maharahtra.
MNS worker proteted in the Mira Bhayandar area at Mira road in Thane earlier today, proteting the now rolled back order of the Maharahtra government mandating Hindi language to be taught in primary chool.

Notably, Maharahtra Miniter Pratap Baburao Sarnaik broke rank with hi government and came to Mira Bhayandar to upport the MNS protet againt trader over the language row.
But intead of a warm welcome, MNS worker called him a traitor and forced the miniter to leave the pot. The miniter had no choice but to leave a the crowd grew agitated.
Meanwhile, Maharahtra Chief Miniter Devendra Fadnavi aid that the adminitration aked them to take an alternate route, to which they did not agree.
Speaking to reporter outide the Aembly, Devendra Fadnavi aid, It would be wrong to ay that we did not permit the protet at Mira Road. I have poken to the commiioner, who told me that the Police did not refue permiion for the protet. (ANI)
