New Delhi [India], September 9 (ANI): BJP MP Deepak Prakash on Monday attacked the Congress after a video surfaced of party MP Tariq Anwar being carried on the shoulders of villagers during an inspection of flood-affected areas in Bihar Katihar.

Prakash said the incident exposed the mentality of the Congress and its lack of concern for the poor and Dalits.

After the yatra, the Yuvraj went abroad to rest, which clearly shows how little he cares about the poor, Dalits and the people of Bihar. They have a leader who goes to assess the situation and assesses the devastation caused by floods by riding on the shoulders of villagers. This shows the mentality of the Congress, Prakash told ANI.

He also targeted the party ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra, calling it an abusive yatra aimed at grabbing power in Bihar.

The voter rights yatra has become an abusive yatra whose aim is to grab power in Bihar with the support of Bangladeshi infiltrators. This yatra is getting exposed every day, he added.

Responding to the criticism, Anwar said the episode reflected people support for the opposition. Explaining the situation, he said he was affected by sunstroke and was advised not to walk through muddy flood-hit areas.

I was a little affected by sunstroke because it was very hot, and secondly, the people there were saying that if you go into the mud, you will get stuck and fall. So they lifted me on their shoulders and there was no problem...When people saw that I was uncomfortable, they themselves told me Dont walk in the mud like this, we will take you there, he told ANI.

The way we got support from the people in our yatra, youths came forward, women came forward. It seems that the people of Bihar will carry the opposition on their shoulders in the upcoming assembly elections this time, he added.

On Sunday, Anwar had toured parts of his Katihar constituency, including Manihari and Barari, to assess flood damage.

In a post on X, he wrote, Today, I inspected the flood-affected areas of Manihari and Barari. People are facing severe difficulties due to the floods and river erosion. I stand with the affected families in this difficult time and appeal to the government for prompt relief and concrete solutions. (ANI)
