Guwahati (Assam) [India], August 25 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manab Deka on Monday slammed the reported remarks made by activist and former Planning Commission member Syeda Hameed regarding Bangladeshi migrants, alleging that her remarks are part of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi agenda of spreading anarchy in the country.

Speaking to ANI, Deka stated that the statement was made by someone who has close ties with the Congress, noting the party inability to come to power.

A woman like Syeda Hameed, if you see her history, is associated with Congress and is a close friend of Sonia Gandhi. These people want to create instability in the country. She was a member of the Planning Commission of Congress... Congress knows that it cannot come to power in India. So, Rahul Gandhi agenda of spreading anarchy is being carried out now, he stated.

Deka comments come in response to Hameed statement in a video, shared by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, in a post on X, suggesting that Bangladeshis can live in India.

The BJP MLA from Assam also warned that such statements pose a direct threat to the indigenous people of the state, further asserting that Assam remains a top priority for the BJP-led governments both in the state and at the Centre.

The existence of the indigenous people of Assam is in danger. The lower Assam has already gone out of our hands... Assam is a priority... This is Himanta Biswa Sarma government. This is Modi ji government, Amit Shah ji government; Assamese people will give a befitting reply to these people, he added.

In the video shared by the Union Minister Rijiju, Syeda Hameed was seen saying, What is wrong with being Bangladeshi? Bangladeshis are humans too, and the world is so big, they can live here (India); they are not depriving anyone of their rights... Saying that they are depriving someone of their rights is troublesome, extremely mischievous and detrimental to humanity.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, earlier today, also hit out at the former Planning Commission member over her remarks, accusing her of legitimising illegal infiltrators in the state.

In a post on X, Sarma asserted that Bangladeshis are not welcome in Assam and said those sympathising with them may accommodate them in their own backyards.

People like Syeda Hameed, a close confidante of the Gandhi family, legitimise illegal infiltrators, as they seek to realise Jinnah dream of making Assam a part of Pakistan. Today, Assamese identity is on the brink of extinction because of the tacit support of people like her. But we are the sons and daughters of Lachit Barphukan; WE WILL FIGHT till the last drop of our blood to save our State and our identity, the post read.

Let me make it very clear: Bangladeshis are not welcome in Assam; it is not their land. Anyone sympathising with them may accommodate them in their own backyards. Assam is not up for grabs by illegal infiltrators, NOT NOW, NOT EVER, it added. (ANI)
