Patna (Bihar) [India], July 13 (ANI): Bihar politics is heating up ahead of the 2025 assembly elections, with former minister Tej Pratap Yadav launching a scathing attack on the state law and order situation.
Yadav, expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), claimed that the Nitish Kumar-led government has lost control, allowing criminals to run amok in Patna and across Bihar. He alleged that the government and administration are complicit in the chaos, predicting that the government will collapse soon after the elections.
He stated, The law and order situation in Bihar has completely collapsed. Even Nitish Kumar ji seems to be in a coma, with the government barely functioning, allowing criminals in Patna and across Bihar to run rampant. The government and administration are fully complicit, and this unbridled government is on the verge of collapse.
The law and order situation is worsening daily, as another murder occurred in broad daylight recently. The opposition has been vocal about the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has also criticised the government, citing alarming statistics, including 60,000 murders and 25,000 rapes during Kumar tenure.
Earlier today, the unidentified assailants gunned down a lawyer in Patna Sultanganj area on Sunday, police said.
The victim, identified as Jitendra Mahato, aged around 58, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
This killing comes close on the heels of the recent murders of prominent businessman and BJP leader Gopal Khemka and another individual in Patna Ram Krishna Nagar area, intensifying opposition criticism against the Nitish Kumar-led government over rising crime in the state.
Meanwhile, responding to a question about the Election Commission directive to revise electoral rolls, which faced opposition from one faction of the grand alliance, and the BJP claims of identifying intruders, Tej Pratap Yadav fired back, accusing the BJP of deflecting scrutiny from their own actions.
He questioned the timing of the BJP claims, suggesting that they only raise the issue of intruders during elections to suit their agenda.
Tej Pratap said, Many within the BJP are themselves intruders. They point fingers at others to deflect scrutiny from their own actions. During elections, the RSS and BJP create this narrative because they know their position is weak. They label others as intruders to suit their agenda.
He further questioned the timing of the BJP claims, stating, They now claim that people from Myanmar, Bangladesh, and neighbouring countries have been identified by BLOs. Why wasnt this visible earlier? It only now, during elections, that they suddenly notice people from other states or countries like Myanmar. Why is this issue only raised when elections are held?
