Speaking to TOI, Khan shared that the call was unexpected as he had not even applied for Google’s jobs. He was, in fact, called by the company for an interview after they spotted his profile on a site that hosts competitive programming challenges. Khan, used to participate in such online programming competitions for the fun of it, “I used to participate as it was fun. I did not even know that firms check programmers' profiles on such sites. I showed the email to my friend who knew someone who had received such an email in the past. I am looking forward to joining their team. It will be an amazing learning experience for me", he tells the daily.

The BE student is reported to have received an email from Google in November last year from the tech giant stating that they had seen Khan's profile on the programming site and are looking for eligible candidates for various locations across Europe. Khan underwent a few online interviews, and then he was called for the final screening in London in March 2019. He will now be flying to join Google’s reliability engineering team in London this September.
