New Delhi:

In a big embarrassment to Air India (AI), a passenger on Saturday found a dead cockroach in his breakfast onboard a flight. The incident came to light after the passenger, Rohit Raj Singh Chauhan, who was flying on AI-634 flight from Bhopal to Mumbai on Saturday morning, wrote a complaint and took the signatures of the crew members. According to Chauhan, he sought to complain about the incident to the crew members but they ignored his complaint and went ahead to serve breakfast to other passengers.

In a feedback letter, the crew wrote, "Passenger of seat 11A, Mr. ____ found dead cockroach in his meal and was very furious. He complained bitterly about the catering and the airline as to how the meals are not securely checked before being served to the passengers. He would be putting it on social media. Crew apologised for the same."

Chauhan alleged that the airline management was yet to take any action in this regard. Incidentally, the food gets loaded from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA).

In a similar incident, a passenger in December 2017 took to Twitter to complain about a cockroach on a food plate at Air India's lounge for premium passengers at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, forcing the airline to apologise.

"Dear @airindiain cockroaches on food plates at your Delhi Lounge for business and first class passengers. Disgusting," Harinder Baweja, a journalist by profession, tweeted along with a picture of a roach on her plate.
