Bird Box which now holds the title of the most viewed opening for a Netflix Original film also sparked a new viral challenge, the #birdboxchallenge. While the Sandra Bullock thriller movie is the newest hype among Netflix viewers, the psychological drama is causing some serious concerns of safety regarding the viral challenge. In 2018, Drake’s hit song, Kiki Do You Love Me, took the internet by storm causing serious harms to the challenge-takers. While the Kiki challenge might have settled down, the internet is all in a rush to spark another new challenge. Shifting its focus from Drake to Bird Box, viral challenges are crossing some serious boundaries overlooking all safety concerns. The new challenge known as the #birdboxchallenge is hence, proving to be equally dangerous where people can be seen trying to cross the road blindfolded.

The giant streaming has however expressed their disapproval regarding the new viral challenge from their horror flick that even involved children. Netflix tweeted, ‘’ Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes’’.

Causing serious concern with this new challenge, Netflix has now issued a warning to its customers that had gone viral in which people are choosing to put blindfolds on and navigate the world around them just like the characters in Bird Box.

The #birdboxchallenge shows fans including children walking blindfolded like Bullock's character Malorie Hayes leads her children on a journey during which they must cover their eyes to protect them from malevolent supernatural beings.
