Diwali celebrations are in full swing in the United States Embassy in India. A video posted by the US Embassy in Delhi shows a group of American women grooving to the tunes of Bollywood hit number ‘Dilbar’ from the movie Satyameva Jayate as the audience cheers on.
The caption of the video read as, "We are already getting into the #Diwali groove! Watch our American divas shake a leg together on a hit Bollywood song!’’
Ever since shared online, the video has been receiving a lot of praises from the social media users. "May this festival of relationships take Indo-US relationship to great heights," posted a user on Facebook. "Happy Diwali and great Job by American Divas," wrote another user.
This year, Diwali or the festival of lights will will celebrated on 27 October in the country. The day marks the coming home of Lord Ram along with wife Sita and brother Lakshman to Ayodhya after an exile period of 14 years. On this day, houses are decorated with lights as well as flowers, accompanied by Goddess Lakshmi's puja.
The festival is celebrated in the Hindu month of Kartika. Diwali coincides with the darkest day of the year, known as Amavasya. The day is the darkest of the Hindu lunisolar calendar and according to Hindu mythology, residents of Ayodha burned lamps to illuminate King Rama’s return to his kingdom.
