If you think valour, courage and temerity do have an age, you’re likely mistaken. Defying what people describe as age, an elderly couple in Tamil Nadu’s Kadayam launched what could be the best offensive of their life and made a duo of intruders flee from their house. After being strangulated from behind, 72-year-old Shanmugavel, kept struggling and as soon as the hold on his neck went loose, he pounced upon one of the armed robbers and hurled almost everything what lied around him. After he raised his voice, his wife, Senthaamarai, who was inside the house, came rushing in and took on another masked robber. She managed to get her husband free of their clutches and then they together fought off the robbers.
The incident which happened late on Sunday was captured in the CCTV camera. The couple threw buckets, shoes, chairs relentlessly, and at last, the duo was forced to vanish.
Their house is situated on the outskirts of the town and neighbours live at a distance of at least 100 metres from their residence.
According to The Hindu’s report, the Shanmugavel's house was targeted for the third time by the robbers in last three years. The couple, in the backdrop of frequent attempts of robbing, has already got CCTV cameras installed at around 14 spots around his house, situated at the entrance to his farm. Just after the incident, the police was informed about the matter. After the footage went viral, relatives have started to flood in to see the couple.
The Kadyam Police has identified one of the robbers with the help of CCTV cameras and said that the duo will be arrested soon.
