Amid ongoing tussle over 50:50 formula for the post of Chief Minister in Maharashtra, a Bollywood fan suggested a candidate for the Chief Minister’s post — Anil Kapoor whose potrayal of CM in Nayak gained much popularity. However, what has bowled over the Internet is the evergreen actor’s response to the suggestion.
Taking to Twitter, a Anil Kpaoor fan named Vijay Gupta nominating Anil Kpaoor's name as the Chief minister shared a photo of the actor from his movie ‘Nayak: The Real Hero‘ along with a caption that read, “Till the time there is no solution in Maharashtra, Let’s see him as the Chief Minister. His one-day tenure on the screen has been seen and appreciated by the entire country.”
Following Gupta’s suggestion, many agreed to his idea. However, the actor seemed to prefer his onscreen role and continue being an actor than a minister. “मैं nayak ही टीक हूà¤Â (I am better off as Nayak),” responded Anil Kapoor.
Anil Kapoor's 2001 movie, Nayak also starring Rani mukherjee, was a political-actioner that revolved TV reporter Shivaji Rao, played by Anil Kapoor, and Chief Minister Balraj Chauhan, played by Amrish Puri. Rao invites him for an interview following which Chauhan offers him his seat for a day which he takes up and poses a threat to the corrupt political system of the city making the rival parties coming together to get him killed.
Adapted from a successful Tamil film Mudhalvan, the movie is critically acclaimed and has a quite a fan following.
