A 70-year-old man in Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu has filed a petition to the district collector seeking to marry badminton star PV Sindhu. The man called Malaisamy has said that he will abduct Sindhu and marry her if necessary arrangements for marriage are not made.
According to reports, Malaisamy has also claimed that he is actually just a 16-year-old boy born in 2004. He said he wanted to marry PV Sindhu because he was extremely impressed by her career.
Malaisamy filed his plea during the weekly meetings organised by the Ramanathapuram district collector where the general public can come and submit their petitions or grievances.
Reports said that Malaisamy carried a letter with a photo of badminton gold medalist PV Sindhu and a letter insisting on his interest to marry the athlete.
PV Sindhu recently became the new world champion in Badminton. She is currently playing in the China Open Super 1000 tournament where she made it to the second round on Wednesday.
India's top shuttler Sindhu beat Li Xuerui 21-18 21-12 in just 34 minutes of action. Replicating her world championship form, the Olympic silver-medallist produced another strong performance to get the better of the currently 20th-ranked Chinese, who entered the match with a 3-3 record against the Indian.
