A plot straight out of Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’, a man from UP convicted of murder was found to be working as a cop in Uttarakhand for the past 19 years. According to TOI, the man in question was convicted of murder in a 22- year-old case in UP's Bareilly. The matter came to light when one Bareilly resident, Naresh Kumar, wrote to the Almora Police Superintendent about Mukesh’s murder case that took place in Bareilly in 1997.

On investigation, a case has reportedly been filed against Mukesh Kumar and Bareilly court has convicted and sentenced Mukesh Kumar to life imprisonment. The policeman is now published in Almora. A case of cheating against him has been registered at the Pantnagar police station.

Police report further adds that Mukesh Kumar, who worked as a police officer, had proven to be a resident of Udham Singh Nagar of Uttarakhand at the time of his recruitment in the Uttarakhand police in 2001.
