New Delhi:

Google Doodle celebrates fifty years of LGBTQ history with animated illustration. The illustration which was created on the Pride Month showcase a of slideshow of Pride parades from each of the five decades precisely fifty years ago from this month when the New York police launched an early morning raid on a small Greenwich Village bar popular with members of the gay community, igniting the Stonewall riots and ushering in the modern battle for LGBT rights in the US.

"In celebrating 50 years of Pride, my coworker Cynthia Cheng first had the idea to depict the parade itself and show it growing in size and momentum across the decades," says Nate Swinehart who created the creative rainbow to the right side.

Doodler Nate Swinehart added that he also used strips of cut paper to depict the people and the setting to depict how the movement has grown over the year. "While everything begins with shades of grey, we first see the rainbow through a community space," he added.

"I also wanted the progression of color to be meaningful, beginning with the initial pink triangle that was reclaimed by the community as a symbol of liberation. From there, we go backwards through the rainbow from purple to red, until we see all the colors come together harmoniously in the final image."

Swinehart also added that, as a member of the LGBTQ community, the Doodle was a very personal project for him, especially because he's well acquainted with the struggle to feel included and accepted.
