A video of a thirsty koala drinking water from a plastic bottle has gone viral on the internet. Shared on Facebook by Chantelle Lowrie, the viral clip was shot on the banks of the Murray River, north of Strathmerton, Australia. The video currently has over 24,000 views. Australia is sweltering in extreme heatwave for the past two weeks with temperatures hitting 45-degree Celsius, reported Channel News Asia.
Lowrie was camping on the banks of Murray River on Friday when she spotted the Koala. “My first thought was that the poor little fella needs a drink,” Lowrie told ABC News.In the video, Koala is seen climbing a tree when Lowrie approaches the animal with a bottle of water. The thirsty koala hesitates at first but then starts drinking water from the bottle. After the video went viral, many social media users said the koala is really cute and appreciated Lowrie for sharing the bottle of water.
''Wow! That’s amazing how close u just got to that koala .. & then she/ he took the water too! Awesome good on ya!” wrote a user. With the high temperature not being a common phenomenon in Australia, seven people have drowned due to the heatwave.
