A woman from London was rushed to hospital after suffering a stroke when receiving oral sex from her partner. The 44-year-old woman, was rushed to the hospital in the most inconvenient of time i.e. while she was ‘nearing orgasm’. Medics at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth, west London, said the patient was unconscious for three minutes after first suffering a headache during oral sex and scans later revealed a blood vessel had burst inside her skull.
Her partner, whose identity is not revealed said that he/she grew concerned after noticing "her body was stiff". Regarding her case, doctors wrote in The British Medical Journal "On closer history taking, the patient reported nearing orgasm while receiving oral sex from her partner before losing consciousness’’. Medics also reported that while they can’t directly explain what caused the stroke, they mentioned that changes in blood pressure during sex are 'well-described' as a cause of bursting blood vessels.
Medics have diagnosed a subarachnoid haemorrhage – an uncommon type of bleeding on the brain – but said it was only 'small in size'.
In fact, sex as stroke trigger isn’t that a rare phenomenon, there have been documented instances of a stroke occurring during or shortly after sexual activity. The case reports in the medical literature that describes stroke happening during or within 2 hours after the sexual activity.
