A British Airways flight on Friday aborted landing at the Heathrow airport near London when strong winds by storm Erik started disturbing. A short video has surfaced over the internet where the passenger plane can be seen swaying in the air for few seconds just before touching the runway. And, as soon as the plane touches the runway, it instantly took off to avoid any mishap.

The clip was shared by Big Jet TV on Twitter with a caption, ‘’We are live now on our Elite Channel from #Heathrow and witnessed this insane #TOGA ! Well done pilot!’’.

Senior First Officer Scott Bateman MBE explained the procedure to adopt in such situations. He also wrote on Big Jet TV’s tweet, ‘’It’s a particularly challenging day at #Heathrow with gusty winds. Let’s not have sensationalist headlines please. This is a professional team making the correct decision to go around after an approach is destabilised by a gust. A practiced & entirely safe manoeuvre #StormErik’’.

"Our highly skilled pilots regularly train to conduct the standard manoeuvre known as a 'go around'. The aircraft circled the airport and landed safely," a British Airways spokesperson said.

Recently, UK was hit with storm Erik where winds reached even a speed of 100 kmph. Met office has issued an Orange weather warning for Donegal, Galway and Mayo and the winds is expected to reach over 120 kmph.
