New Delhi [India], July 29 (ANI): Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury on Tuesday reacted to party colleague Manish Tewari cryptic social media post over speaker selection for the Parliament debate on Operation Sindoor, emphasising that Parliament follows a structured system where everyone gets an opportunity to speak.
Speaking to ANI, Chowdhury said, I dont know what has happened. There is a system in the Parliament. Everyone is allowed to speak one at a time. Manish Tewari speaks very well. There is nothing to be discontented about. There are so many people, and the time is limited. All the colleagues have to be encouraged.
Her remarks came shortly after Congress MP Manish Tewari stirred speculation with a cryptic post on X, where he shared a media report highlighting that neither he nor fellow Congress leader Shashi Tharoor was listed among the party speakers for the discussion on Operation Sindoor. The two leaders had recently returned from government-sponsored all-party delegations aimed at briefing foreign governments about the military operation and Pakistan alleged role in fostering terrorism.
Congress MP Manish Tewari offered a cryptic response when asked about his social media post that stirred speculation over his exclusion from the Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor.
In a brief but telling remark, Tewari said, There is a saying in English- If you dont understand my silences, you will never understand my words.
In the caption of the post, the Congress MP conjured Manoj Kumar patriotic song from Purab aur Pashchim, Hai preet jahaan ki reet sada, main geet wahaan ke gaata hoon, Bharat ka rehne waala hoon, Bharat ki baat sunata hoon. Jai Hind.
Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tewari, who were part of Operation Sindoor Outreach, India diplomatic efforts to brief foreign governments on the necessity of Operation Sindoor and highlight Pakistan complicity in terrorism, were excluded from the list of speakers for the Parliament discussion on Operation Sindoor.
The sources said that while Manish Tewari had sent a request to the party to speak during the debate, Tharoor conveyed unwillingness as his stance during the visit abroad of the delegation would be at variance with the party strong stance against the government on aspects related to the military operation to hit target infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK. Tharoor led one of the all-party delegations.
Tharoor also provided a cryptic response when asked if he would participate in the debate.
