Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is celebrating his 51st birthday today and the actor is no less than wine – the older the better.
Salman has been defying age like magic and continues to rule a millions of hearts despite being in his 50s.
In fact, not just the hearts the superstar is a king of box office as well. Khan, is known for different style and power-packed entertainers.
The actor who once witnessed a downfall between 2005 and 2009, with a lone hit ‘Partner’ and not to miss his rocky love life along with all the controversies he has been embroiled in so far, is now the sole actor who rules the coveted Rs 100 crore club with the maximum movies in it.
So as the superstar turns a year older today, we bring you his 10 movies that made him the real ‘Sultan’ of Bollywood:
Dabangg - Released in 2010, ‘Dabangg’ was Salman Khan’s first entry in the prestigious Rs 100 crore club. The movie made a lifetime collection of Rs 145.00 crores at the box office. Helmed by Arbaaz Khan, ‘Dabangg’ had Salman as Police Inspector Chulbul Pandey aka Salman Khan and was paired opposite Sonakshi Sinha, who made her big Bollywood debut with the movie. Besides, the movie also featured Sonu Sood as an antagonist.
Ready - Salman Khan, who is much popular with his on-screen character Prem, got another movie in the Rs 100 crore club with Anees Bazmee’s 2011 directorial ‘Ready’. The movie had Khan paired opposite Asin and minted Rs 120 crores at the box office.
Bodyguard - When our Chulbul Pandey became Kareena Kapoor’s protector Lovely Singh in 2011 release ‘Bodyguard’, the audience was all smitten by his charm. The movie minted Rs 142 crores in its lifetime at the box office.
Ek Tha Tiger - Director Kabir Khan gave a new name to Salman in 2012 when he made ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. The movie portrayed a love story between Salman and his ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif. It was a big blockbuster and earned a collection of Rs. 198 crores.
Dabangg 2 - While Salman Khan had won accolades for his performance as inspector Chulbul Pandey in ‘Dabangg’, the actor chose to recreate the aura once again in its sequel. Released in 2012, ‘Dabangg 2’ also created a bang at the box office and earned Rs 158.50 crore.
Jai Ho - Released in January 2014, ‘Jai Ho’ grabbed the headlines for making it to the coveted Rs 100 crore club within ten days of release. The movie with few intolerable scenes or we can say extra sweet non digestible scenes made a collection of Rs 111 crores.
Kick - Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’ did wonders at the box office. The movie which was released in 2014 surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark and made a lifetime earning of Rs 233 crores.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan - Salman Khan, who has been a part of several action movies, made the audience go crazy after he came up with ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ in 2015. His innocent avatar and decison to take a deaf and dumb Munni, a Pakistani girl, to her country made the audiences emotional. ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ did commendable business at the box office and minted Rs. 320.34 crore.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo - The 2015 release ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ not just marked the reunion of after 16 years, but Salman Khan also reprised his onscreen character Prem once again. A royal family drama, PRDP had Salman romancing Sonam Kapoor and made a business of Rs. 207.40 crore.
Sultan - Salman Khan’s last release of 2016 ‘Sultan’ has been the biggest release of the year. The movie which had Salman playing the role of a wrestler, did a phenomenal collection at the box office and earned Rs 300.45 crore.
