Today marks the 72nd birthday of legendary filmmaker Subhash Ghai. He is a director who has made a remarkable contribution to the Indian cinema such that he was even titled as the 'showman', a title which was earlier owned by Raj Kapoor.
Ghai has been missing from the silver screen for a while now, however, he has been quite active with social work especially in the Swachh Bharat campaign.

Hero - Release in 1983, 'Hero' was a romantic movie starring Jackie Shroff and former Miss India Meenakshi Sheshadri. The movie was declared a superhit at the box office making the lead couple overnight stars.
Karma - This action flick by Subhash Ghai was a multi-starrer movie starring several bigwigs of Bollywood including Dilip Kumar, Nutan, Naseeruddin Shah, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, etc. The movie was quite acclaimed by the audience and critics. Interestingly, it was the first movie where Dilip Kumar was paired opposite veteran actress Nutan.
Saudagar - This movie caught the headlines at its time as it had brought togehter two legendary actors Dilip Kumar and Raaj Kumar after 32 years. 'Saudagar' also marked the Bollywood debut of Vivek Mushran and Manisha Koirala. The film was a Silver Jubilee success all over India and got Subhash Ghai his only Filmfare Best Director Award.
Pardes - Starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, 'Pardes' marked the Bollywood debut of Mahima Chaudhry and Apurva Agnihotri. The movie won a lot of appreciation from audience and critics and was a commercial, critical and musical hit.
