Tom Cruise, Hollywood’s stunt king turns 57 today. Known for his death-challenging stunts delivering off-the-roof action movies, Cruise, despite his debateable personal life is a favourite when it comes to action actions. From scaling he world’s tallest building, gliding like a trapeze in Ghost Protocol to breaking his ankles while jumping over one building to another in ‘Fallout’, Cruise’s list of death-stunts in the Mission Impossible are too-a-many, after all isn’t it ‘Mission Impossible’?
Having being in the field for over two decades, Tom has become a face that is associated with deadly stunts and some of the best action movies. On his birthday, we look at some of the movies Tom Cruise literally gambled with his life apart from Mission Impossible franchise:
Top Gun (1986): During ‘Watch the Birdie’ scene co-star Barry Tubb told The New York Post, "Cruise came as close to dying as anybody on a set I've ever seen."
The Last Samuria (2003): Tom nearly had his head chopped off during a fight scene. "Tom's neck was right in front of me, and I tried to stop swinging my sword’’, co-star Hiroyuki Sanada said.
Collateral (2004): We now have to agree that every Tom cruise movie nearly cost him his life. Co-star Jamie Foxx admits that Cruise almost met his maker while they were filming a car crash scene.
Jack Reacher (2012): During an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in 2012, Tom revealed he nearly got killed during a crotch-kicking scene from the film.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014): ‘’I hear him going, 'Brake, brake brake' … I left it too late and drove us into a tree. And I almost killed Tom Cruise." Emily Blunt super impressed with Tom’s impossible stunts told host Conan.
