In view of the novel coronavirus breakout (COVID-19), Delhi police on Tuesday vacated the Shaheen Bagh which was the epicentre of anti-CAA protests. Some protestors have also been detained.It is worth mentioning here that Shaheen Bagh is not the only site that has been cleared by the Delhi Police. In riot-hit North-East Delhi, the police removed the agitators from another site in Jaffrabad. The development comes at least two days after section 144 was imposed in the national capital to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Delhi is currently under complete lockdown. There was no positive case for coronavirus reported in Delhi in the last 24 hours.

Shaheen Bagh, the epicentre of anti-CAA protests in the National Capital, was cleared by the Delhi Police amid stringent coronavirus lockdown. Occupied by the anti-citizenship law protesters for over 100 days, Shaheen Bagh was vacated by the police after numerous pleas failed to move the agitators.

DCP South East RP Meena said, "People at the protest site in Shaheen Bagh were requested today to clear the site as lockdown has been imposed. But after they refused, action was taken against violators as the assembly was unlawful. Protest site has been cleared."

Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava said, "Action will be taken against all those who are found violating the prohibitory order under Section 144 Cr PC that is in place in Delhi. However, the response to the order has been good till now."

Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava said, "While we were clearing the protest sites in Jamia, Shaheen Bagh and other areas today, some people have been arrested and detained as we faced a little difficulty. However, I am happy to tell that there was no resistance shown by people."
