Elections 2019: From Shatrughan Sinha to Sunny Deol - political bigwigs file nominations for next phases

Several prominent candidates, including BJP's Sunny Deol, Congress candidate Manish Tewari, SAD patron Parkash Singh Badal filed their papers on the last day of the nomination process for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Punjab. As many as 188 candidates filed their papers Monday, taking the total nomination figure to 385 for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The scrutiny of the nomination papers would take place on April 30. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is May 2. The voting would be held for all the 13 seats in Punjab on May 19. Other political biggies who filed papers this morning include Congress leader Shatrughan Sinha and Ajay Rai. While Sinha is pitted against Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad from Patna Sahib Lok Sabha seat in Bihar, Rai will take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi. Both Patna Sahib and Varanasi are scheduled to go to polls in the last phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 19. The counting of votes will be taking place on May 23.
