71st Independence Day Pictures of prominent Politicians and Personalities hoisting national flag

Entire India is busy celebrating 71st Independence Day and remembering the sacrifices and compromises made by great leaders and country people. August 15 holds very much significance for us we got because we got freedom from British rule after a long battle. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the tricolor from the ramparts of Red Fort in Delhi and addressed the nation on several issues. Many politicians and personalities raised our national flag across different parts of the country as part of the Independence Day celebration. Check out the pictures right here.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee hoisted our national flag at Indira Gandhi Sarani in Kolkata. Mamta had raised the flag last year at Sarani instead of State Secretariat Writers’ Building, breaking the tradition which has been in place since 1948.

Rashtriya Swamamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat raised the tricolor at a government aided school in Palakkad in Kerala. He was earlier told not to do so by the authorities.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minster Raman Singh also raised the national flag in at the Police Parade Ground in Raipur. He also inspected a guard of honour from various security agencies.

BJP President Amit Shah unfurled the national flag at the party’s headquarter in Delhi. He also wished the people of the country on the occasion of Independence Day.

Yoga guru Ramdev raised the national flag measuring 100 feet in Haridwar’s Patanjli Yogpeeth.

Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar raised the Indian National flag in the state capital Patna. The Janta Dal-United leader said on the occasion that there will be no compromise in the efforts on governance, corruption and development.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi hoisted the national flag at Chhatrasal stadium .

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan hoisted the tricolor at Moti Lal Nehru stadium in Bhopal. Many people in the city flocked to the stadium to witness the celebration.
