Gujarat braces for Cyclone Vayu, all measures in place to minimise destruction

Cyclone Vayu has changed its course and is unlikely to hit the Gujarat coast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday. Though it is unlikely to make landfall and will only skirt the coast, causing a small deviation, its effect will be there with heavy rainfall accompanied with gusty winds along Gujarat coast. IMD Additional Director General Devendra Pradhan said the cyclone will remain in the sea and move parallel to the western state. However, authorities are directed not to relax in preparedness and all the possible measures have been taken to ensure that no human life is lost, damage to vital infrastructure is minimised and there is early recovery of all essential services post-cyclone landfall. Let’s have a quick look at the preparations taken by the state government in the light of Cyclone Vayu.
