Mahatma Gandhi theme tableaus at Republic Day parade Rajpath New Delhi India January 26

Tableaus are one of the main attractions at the Republic Day parades every year. These floats, representing different states, also offer glimpses of the dynamic and vibrant India, which encompasses several cultures and diversities within. As many as twenty two tableaus representing 16 states and Union Territories, themed on Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, rolled down the Rajpath on Saturday. Six others were from various central ministries and departments, including power, agriculture, drinking water and sanitation, Indian Railways and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Central Public Works Division (CPWD). While Sikkim, the cleanest state of India, showcased sanitation and emancipation of rural women, the tableau of Maharashtra depicted Quit India movement, which was launched by Gandhi in 1942. From Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir to Tamil Nadu, here's a look at the colourful and decorated floats that painted the Rajpath on Republic Day.
