Polling ended on Wednesday to elect 22 members of legislative assembly in the final phase of Manipur elections 2017, in high-stake battle for incumbent chief minister Ibobi Singh and activist Irom Sharmilla.
While first phase of Manipur assembly election was held on March 4 to elect 38 members of the legislative assembly in two phases. The state faces a stiff battle between Congress and BJP, especially after three-month long economic blockade.
BJP is the only party contesting in all 60 seats in the entire state. The ruling Congress fielded 59 candidates. The current chief minister, Okram Ibobi Singh is from Congress who has been leading Manipur assembly for three terms.
Results for Manipur Assembly election 2017 will be announced on March 11.
