Nissan all new Sunny to be launched in India in 2018

Nissan has started designing on the all-new Sunny sedan that is probably expected to arrive in India some time in 2018. It will be designed on the lines of the new Micra hatchback (K14) but will have an extended wheelbase for more leg space. The new Sunny, like the present car, will be a world-wide model and will be retailed in both left- and right-hand drive markets in the same way it is also known as the Almera or the Versa. While the car will be founded on the most recent version of the V platform for the international markets, the India-spec new Sunny will be supported by Nissan’s economical CMF architecture. The new car, however, won’t be overextended to the same limit as the present Sunny. What Nissan is aiming for, insiders claim, is a better balance between space and mobility; something that should help the sedan compete with Honda City. It will also be a competitor to the new Hyundai Verna and the popular Maruti Ciaz. On the question of engines, the new Sunny’s mainstay will be the group’s new 106hp, 1.5-litre petrol unit introduced lately on the Duster. Nissan’s X-Tronic CVT automatic gearbox will be the same in the new car, and, though many customers may want it, there won’t be a diesel version of the car.
