Centre is organising a week-long festival ‘Bharat Parv’, in New Delhi at north and south of Rajpath lawns to mark the 70th anniversary of India’s Independence. As many as thirty states and UT’s are participating at the event, showcasing their cultural heritage with their cuisine, folk and tribal dances, among others. The prime objective of organizing the event is to generate a patriotic mood, promote the rich cultural diversity of the country and to ensure wider participation of the general public.

The event was inaugurated by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday evening in the presence of Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma, Tourism Minister for Delhi Kapil Mishra and Union Ministers of Information and Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is also setting up 'Azadi 70 Saal- Yaad Karo Kurbani' a photo exhibition on the occasion of 70th Independence Day celebrations.

The highlights of the event include performances by the Armed Forces Bands, a multicuisine food court with 50 stalls, crafts mela, 17-themed pavilions, cultural performances and a photo exhibition by the I&B Ministry titled “Azadi 70 Saal- Yaad Karo Kurbani”.

Bharat Parv is being organised from 12-18 Aug in the lawns of Rajpath; Cultural performances from 6:30-9:00 pm daily.
