Ramayana through illustrations Sundara Kand II
The Sundara Kanda is the fifth chapter of Ramayana and forms the plot of the famous Hindu epic and mainly deals with Hanuman's heroic journey to Lanka.
In first part Hanuman took a leap to reach Lanka across ocean, where he meets Vibhishana and then Sita. He requests her to come along with her but refuses to go along as she wants her husband Ram to come and rescue her and take revenge of her insult.
In second part of Sundara kand depicted below, we shall take you through the Hanuman's adventures in Ashok Vatika and Ravana's court.

After meeting Sita, Hanuman decides to gorge on fruits of bountiful Ashok Vatika. He destroys more than he eats. Triggered by a sense of revenge, he wreaked havoc by destroying trees and buildings all over the country. He also managed to kill successfully a bunch of faithfull warriors of Ravana.

Hanuman intentionally produced himself before demon king Ravana and gave a prolonged speech to make him understand how he was doing a blunder by abducting a sacred lady like Sita.

His lecture to Ravana did not work and he was condemned by Ravana and the brigade. This was not the end. An enraged Ravana decided to punish Hanuman. When rakshas set Hanuman's tail on fire.

A quick and smart Hanuman escaped and leaping from roof to roof, set fire to Ravana's citadel and made the giant leap back from the island.

Finally, Hanuman and the party returned to Kishkindha with the news of utmost cheer and victory. He presented the token of identity given to him by Sita to Ram and told him story of his journey.
