Sonia Gandhi begins campaign for UP polls with Varanasi roadshow

Congress President Sonia Gandhi today launched her party’s campaign for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in the constituency. The Congress president reached Varanasi for a day-long programme in the constituency and was led by hundreds of bikers, waving party flags from the airport to the heart of the city. She has also taken part in a road show which would take her to various parts of the city.

With roadshow in Varanasi, Sonia Gandhi launched poll campaign in UP. This is Sonia Gandhi's first visit to Varanasi after Modi became Prime Minister.

Sonia Gandhi is also scheduled to visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in the evening to offer prayers before leaving for Delhi. Subsequently, she will adress the media.

The Congress needs a miracle in Uttar Pradesh, admitted its state chief Raj Babbar. Senior leaders of Congress, along with the party’s state chief, such as Ghulam Nabi Azad, Salman Khurshid etc. are to take part in the roadshow.
