Winter Session of Parliament starts with demonetisation as prime issue

The Winter Session of Parliament began on Wednesday with demonetisation as the prime issue in the list of Opposition. Along with Congress, TMC, BSP and JD(U), many other parties has demanded immediate discussion on demonetisation of high denomination notes. Anand Sharma, Mayawati, Piyush Goyal, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ramgopal Yadav, Sharad Yadav, Sitaram Yechury, Arun Jaitley, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Venkaiah Naidu were among the prominent speakers at the Parliament on Wednesday. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he hope very good discussion will take place on all issues in the Parliament.

Piyush Goyal

BJP leader Piyush Goyal spoke in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. He said that citizens of India fully backing government on the note ban move and measure to expose black money is necessary.

Sharad Yadav

JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav addressed the house in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. Sharad Yadav asked Finance Minister Arun Jaitley whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi consulted him before taking decision on demonetisation.

Ghulam Nabi Azad

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad participated in the Rajya Sabha discussion. Azad told that he expected PM to be Rajya Sabha but he was in the Lok Sabha. Lok Sabha got adjourned for the day after paying tributes to the members. 

Anand Sharma

Congress leader Anand Sharma spoke at length over the demonetisation issue in the Rajya Sabha. Anand Sharma stressed that 86% of the currency in the markets was 500/1000 notes, was scrapped by just one announcement. Was it all black?

Sitaram Yechury

CPM leader Sitaram Yechury spoke in Rajya Sabha, Yechury said “Now we have Modi Antoinette, "If you don't have paper, use plastic"; what is the coverage of your plastic money?

Mayawati

BSP leader Mayawati spoke in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. Mayawati said I have been observing Jaitley ji in the Rajya Sabha and have noticed he does look very 'dukhi'. She also added that as it's a sensitive issue, we want the PM to come to the Rajya Sabha and take part in this discussion. 

Arun Jaitley

Finance Minister also spoke in the Rajya Sabha. He spoke on Vijay Mallya. He said that loan to Vijay Mallya's Kingfisher a write-off 'only in books,' but the Govt still pursuing his case.
