It did not go well with the athletes as some of them complained of stinging eyes and that they couldn’t see properly, as chlorine levels were blamed for the shade change.

To celebrate the USA’s win in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay, Ryan Lochte posted an image of him and his team mates, including Michael Phelps, clutching their gold medals aloft. But there seemed to be something very wrong with Lochte’s hair - it too had turned green.

Olympics this year witnessed first ever most romantic moment as Brazilian women’s rugby player Isadora Cerullo accepted an on-field offer of marriage from her girlfriend Marjorie Enya on Monday following the 7s final. Interestingly, Cerullo is the first ever athlete to ever receive a marriage proposal at an Olympic games. The couple have been together for two years. The International Olympic Committee welcomed news of the engagement.

A culturally contrasting photo from the Olympics’ volleyball competition featuring a covered Egyptian athlete compared to her body-revealing German colleague has evoked online reactions. Doaa Elghobashy has made headlines when a photo of her covering her whole body except her face, hands and feet juxtaposed with German volleyball player Kira Walkenhorst in the traditional beach volleyball two-piece. The culture clash was captured by Reuters photographer Lucy Nicholson during the Egypt and Germany match on Sunday night, where Egypt fell to the European nation.
