Asia Cup 2018: Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka faced each other in the curtain raiser of the Asia Cup 2018 on Saturday. Mushfiqur Rahim’s brilliant century was the backbone of the Tigers’ 137 runs win against Sri Lanka as the elegant customer with the bat smashed a brilliant 144 in 150 balls in Dubai. For Sri Lanka, it was a tough outing as they failed to perform in any of the department. Only Lasith Malinga made a mark as he took a brilliant 4-fer in his comeback match. Let us have a look at the best of shots from Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka.
Lasith Malinga made his comeback after 1 year
Lasith Malinga made his comeback to the international circuit with a brilliant performance of 4/23 against Bangladesh. However, that was not enough to save Sri Lanka’s blushes on the opening day of Asia Cup 2018.
Stumps Fly
Shakib Al Hasan was sent back for a duck as comeback man Lasith Malinga sent the stumps for a roll! The all-rounder was sent back to the pavillion in his first delivery after Liton Das (opener) also went back to the hut for naught.
Dropped!
Apart from the brilliant Mushfiqur Rahim (144), Mohammed Mithun was the pick of the batsmen for Bangladesh as he scored a handy 63 to assist the skipper.
Mushfiqur Rahim
Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim smashed his career-best of 144 in just 150 balls with four maximums and 11 boundaries. This was his sixth ODI hundred as Bangladesh’s score counted at 262 – all out in 49.3 overs after electing to bat first after winning the toss.
Sent Back!
Sri Lanka needed a top order batsman to stick around but one down Dhananjaya de Silva (0) was not able to do that as he was trapped LBW off Mortaza as the ball nipped back in from off-stump. Sri Lanka were 32 for 3 then. The next four overs gave just four runs as Sri Lanka went into a shell but Bangladesh still found a way out to get a wicket as Mehidy Hasan sent Kusal Perera (11) back in the dressing room.
Bangladesh players celebrate
All the six Bangladesh bowlers got at least a wicket. Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman and Mehidy Hasan grabbed two wickets each while Shakib Al-Hasan, Rubal Hossain and Mosaddek Hossain took one each.
