The eighth day of Commonwealth Games 2018 proved to be the golden day for the Indian Wrestling team where Sushil Kumar and Rahul Aware clinched Gold in 74 kg and 53 kg category and Babita Phogat claimed Silver in the 57 kg category. On the other hand, Tajaswini Sawant won Silver in the 50m Rifle Prone event. Singapore’s ML Veloso won Gold in the event with a Games record of 621. Sushil Kumar – The Double Olympic Gold Medallist won his third Gold at the Commonwealth Games subsequently in Freestyle Wrestling 74 kg category. He defeated South Africa’s Johannes Botha on technical superiority to clinch the Gold.

Babita Kumari Phogat - Defending champion Babita Phogat has to settle with silver after being outmanoeuvred by Canada’s Diana Weicker. Babita Kumari thinks that she was not so aggressive over her opponent as she was expecting but is satisfied with the efforts she put in to the match.

Rahul Aware – Rahul won his first Gold at the Games defeating Canada’s Steven Takahashi in an exciting contest. On winning his first Gold medal he said that he was waiting for this moment since last 8 years where he missed out the opportunities to clinch the medal in the Games of 2010 and 2014.

Tajaswini Sawant- She won Silver medal in 50m Rifle Prone event. The 37-year-old finished with a total of 618.9 to finish second in the shooting event. Singapore's ML Veloso took Gold with a Games record of 621 while Scotland's Seonaid McIntosh won Bronze with a total of 618.1.
