Hardik Pandya
India carried from where they had left in Sri Lanka and defeated Australia by 26 runs in the first ODI at Chennai on Sunday. Riding on Hardik Pandya's all-round heroics, the Indians overcame the Kangaroos in all departments of the game. India were in a spot of bother as the top order fell cheaply. However, Hardik Pandya, Kedar Jadhav and former captain MS Dhoni played brilliant knocks to take the team out of trouble. 'Man of the Match' Pandya hit 83 runs off just 66 balls and also claimed two wickets to leave Australia shattered.
MS Dhoni
The 'Men in Blue' were helped by former captain Dhoni's scintillating form who first steadied the ship with Kedar Jadhav and later on pummeled the Aussies along with Pandya. In the process, the wicket-keeper batsman also completed 100 half centuries across all formats of the game.
Yuzvendra Chahal
The Aussies fell victim to spin once more as Chahal claimed three wickets and scalped the dangerous Glenn Maxwell. From there on, it was abject surrender by the tourists.
Kuldeep Yadav
Wrist spin troubled the Aussies a lot as Kuldeep Yadav formed a deadly partnership with Chahal. The spinners claimed 5 wickets between them while keeping the economy rate pretty reasonable.
Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar flummoxed the Aussie batsmen along with Pandya in the beginning of the innings. Bumrah bowled Hilton Cartwright and his variations never let the Kangaroos off the hook.
