Karun Nair hit a brilliant triple century as India posted its highest Test score 759/7 declared. England scored 12/0 in its second innings on the fourth day of the Chennai Test and faces an uphill battle to save the match from now on. Nair was brilliantly supported by teammates KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in his marathon innings.
India played majestically in their first innings of the match and triple centurion Karun Nair completely dominated the English bowlers. Earlier, K L Rahul lost a beautiful opportunity to score his maiden double century. However, Murali Vijay, Ashwin and Jadeja helped Nair reach the milestone by providing him adequate support.
Karun Nair was unbeaten on 303 and entered history books due to his brilliant strokeplay. The marathon innings by the Karnataka batsman had everything in it, constituting sweeps, reverse sweeps, cover drives, square drives, pull and hook shots. Nair has been a consistent scorer for his state side Karnataka in Ranji Trophy and was rewarded with a Test cap after a stellar season with the willow in last Ranji season.
India will aim to win the match and series 4-0 after posting their highest Test score. Apart from Karun Nair's masterpiece, KL Rahul, all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin and wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel played some splendid innings. Jadeja hit a half century to enhance his credentials as an all rounder.
