India defeated New Zealand by 197 runs to win the historic 500th Test at Green Park. India go 1-0 up in the series, a fitting way to commemorate the landmark 500th Test. But it's not come without NZ showing some spunk at various stages. Ashwin's early burst with the new ball, during which he became the 2nd fastest bowler to 200 Test wickets, pretty much sealed the fate.
Ravindra Jadeja was also exceptional with bowl in the first innings and Pujara made a brilliant comeback with fifties in both the innings.
Murali Vijay- 1st Innings- Scored impressive 65 runs. 2nd Innings- Scored solid 76 runs but failed to score a hundred
Lokesh Rahul- 1st Innings- A quickfire 32 of 38 balls. 2nd Innings- 38 runs, another good start but failed to convert into big.
Cheteshwara Pujara- 1st Innings- Good comeback half century, 62 of 109 balls. 2nd Innings- 78 runs with 10 dashing boundaries
Virat Kohli- 1st Innings- Failed to get in the double figures. Scored 9 of 10 balls. 2nd Innings- Another flop show by the Indian Captain, just 18 runs.
Ajinkya Rahane- 1st Innings- Got out on 18. 2nd Innings- Scored 40 of 81 balls
Rohit Sharma- 1st Innings- Another mediocre performance, scored 35 runs of 67 balls. 2nd Innings- Improved his performance with an unbeaten 68 run.
Wriddhiman Saha- 1st Innings- Saha was cleaned up by Boult on zero, 1 catch behind the wicket. 2nd Innings- Didn't get to bat
Ravindra Jadeja- 1st Innings- He took a five-wicket haul leaving the Kiwis on a low. He was impressive with the bat and went not out on 42. 2nd Innings- A handy fifty towards the end of the innings. Picked up Santners wicket
Ravichandran Ashwin- 1st Innings- 4 major wickets which dismantled Nz's top order. Scored 40 odd runs with bat. 2nd Innings- Picked up 6 wickets. Didn't get to bat.
Mohammed Shami- 1st Innings- Went wicketless. 2nd Innings - Picked up two back to back wickets.
Umesh Yadav- 1st Innings- He picked up Guptill's wicket. 2nd Innings- Unimpressive performance. Went wicketless
