Three Deadly Space Rocks Dangerously Approaching Earth (Photo Credit: Pixabay.com)
Recently, News Nation reported that a pair of deadly asteroids (space rocks) dubbed as 2019 QY3 and 2017 KP27 had zip past the Earth. Well, Earth is all set to have a close encounter with three deadly asteroids named as asteroid 2019 SH3, asteroid 2019 SN3 and asteroid 2019 SP on Monday next week (September 30, 2019). If these three asteroids collide with the Earth, massive casualties may occur. Notably, asteroids are small, rocky objects that orbit the Sun. Although asteroids orbit the Sun like planets, they are much smaller than planets. The celestial bodies can bring tsunamis, shock waves and flattening winds that could be catastrophic. The space rocks approach towards the Earth due to the gravitational forces that affect them. It is said that one day, all life on Earth will extinct and an asteroid could be the possible reason. Shocked to hear that? However, a car-sized asteroid slams into the Earth's atmosphere about once in a year. On the other hand, an asteroid large enough to threaten the existence of life on Earth arrives once in every few million years.
According to the NASA, the first of the three tracked space rocks, asteroid 2019 SH3 will come dangerously close to the Earth on Monday at around 7:00 am (IST). On its closest approach, the space rock will reach speeds of around 14.16km per second or 31,675mph (50,976kph). Asteroid 2019 SH3 is the second largest of the trio and it measures somewhere between 62.3ft to 137.8ft (19m to 42m) in diameter.

Shortly after, Asteroid 2019 SN3 will skim the Earth at around 5:15 pm (IST). NASA estimate asteroid 2019 SN3 measures in the range of 42.6ft to 95ft (13m to 29m) across and it is the smallest of the three space rocks. The space rock is currently travelling through space at speeds of around 7.68km per second or 17,179mph (27,648kph).
The third space rock that will skim the Earth is identified as Asteroid 2019 SP. Asteroid SP measures somewhere in the range of 111.5ft to 249ft (34m to 76m) making it the largest of the trio. Asteroid 2019 SP will come dangerously close to Earth at around 11:00 am (IST). During the approach, the space rock will travel at speeds of 15.06km per second or 33,688mph (54,216kph).
It is worth mentioning here that all the three asteroids will miss the Earth and we are safe. The closest of the three space rocks i.e. Asteroid SN3 will approach Earth from a distance of 0.00565 astronomical units. Importantly, a single astronomical unit equals about 93 million miles (149.6 million km), which is the distance from the Sun to Earth.
