What it's like to spacewalk: NASA releases incredible video

New Delhi:

NASA makes sure to treat the space enthusiasts every now and then by revealing never before seen images. This time, the US space agency has released a breath-taking ‘action cam’ footage from a spacewalk conducted by astronomers on the International Space Station (ISS).

Spacewalk is something which fascinates many people, especially the space enthusiasts. Although we get to see what it’s like being in space in several science-fiction movies, but witnessing the real-life footage of astronauts spacewalking 250 miles away from Earth is indeed a thrilling experience.

The new footage provides a close-up glimpse of what exactly it looks like and what happens when the astronauts keep their feet outside the ISS.

At first sight when the astronauts go out performing their tasks, you may forget that the astronauts are 250 miles above the surface of the Earth, but when you see the curve of our planet far below, you get a jolting reminder.

ESA’s Thomas Pesquet and NASA’s Shane Kimbrough during the spacewalk prepared the Pressurized Mating Adapter-3 for a second International Docking Adapter, which will allow future commercial crew vehicles to dock.

On March 24, Pesquet captured this video which has now been released on YouTube by NASA. The video was filmed just ahead of the Pressurized Mating Adapter-3’s (PMA-3) robotic move on March 26.

Cables and electrical connections were disconnected by Pesquet and Kimbrough, which allowed PMA-3 to later move from the port side of the Tranquility module to the space-facing side of the Harmony module, the space agency saids.
