New Delhi:

NASA has launched a selfie app that lets you click images of yourself in a virtual spacesuit, posing in front of stunning cosmic locations, like the Orion Nebula or the centre of the Milky Way galaxy.

The app also provides information about the science behind these stunning images. There are currently 30 eye-catching images to choose from. These images are taken by Spitzer satellite launched by NASA. More images from the agency's other science and human spaceflight missions will be added soon.

"Spitzer played a major role in detecting these planets and providing information that has helped scientists learn about the planets' likely compositions," NASA officials said.

The app is available for both android and the iOS users.

NASA’s Exoplanet Excursions VR app

NASA's Exoplanet Excursions virtual reality app, takes users on a guided tour of the TRAPPIST-1 planetary system.

"The TRAPPIST-1 system is too far away for telescopes to directly observe these planets, but this VR experience features artists' impressions of what the planets might look like. These impressions are based on data from Spitzer and other telescopes that have studied the TRAPPIST-1 system" said the NASA officials.
