Russia's Progress MS-06 Cargo spacecraft successfully docks with NASA's International Space Station

Russian Progress MS-O6 Cargo Spacecraft has successfully docked with the Zvezda module of the International Space Station's (ISS) Russian segment, reports have said. The Progress MS-06 cargo spacecraft was launched on June 14 on board a Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket.

Russian Progress MS-06 Cargo spacecraft docks with ISS

Russian Progress MS-O6 Cargo Spacecraft has successfully docked with the Zvezda module of the International Space Station's (ISS) Russian segment, reports have said. The Progress MS-06 cargo spacecraft was launched on June 14 on board a Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket.

The Progress MS-06 Cargo Spacecraft carried fuel, water, food, compressed gases, medical and sanitary equipment and nanosatellites to Russia's Zvezda service module.

Russian space agency, Roscosmos, is using the Progress MS-06 (NASA: Progress 67) to provide resupplies to ISS. The Progress MS-06 automatically docked to the service module Zvezda of the ISS.

The process of docking was monitored by Russian cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin, who was prepared to manually intervene in case of need.

The crew will start unloading the cargo vehicle after checking the airlock and equalising the pressure inside the spacecraft and ISS.

The Soyuz-2.1a space rocket lifted the Progress MS-06 from the Baikonur space site in Kazakhstan on June 14. The Progress MS-06 is the second spacecraft to be launched to the ISS this year.

The first was launched on February 22, 2017, while the third will be sent on October 12. The Progress MS-06 will remain their till early December. It will then be dumped in the Pacific Ocean.

The ISS currently has a crew that includes Russia’s Fyodor Yurchikhin and NASA’s Peggy Whitson and Jack Fischer.
